A Community of Care on Cape Cod
Hospice & Palliative Care
Broad Reach Hospice provides compassionate care for individuals and their families facing life-limiting illness as determined by the patients’ physician. Our program focuses on alleviating the stresses that often times become overwhelming for patients and families during a difficult time. Our experienced team of professionals including physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, pastoral care, and trained volunteers come together to provide loving support and a plan of continued treatment that is tailored to meet the needs of each patient and family. This personalized care allows for meaningful and peaceful days.
Palliative medicine is a newly recognized field that deals with all aspects of life-threatening disease or illness. As with hospice, palliative care offers an interdisciplinary team approach. The Hospice team at Broad Reach works together with the patient, family members, and medical team to develop the best possible plan to care for those in need of its services. We optimize the quality of life by managing symptoms, pain, and assisting with decision making about treatment options. Spiritual, educational, and psychosocial support services also make the hospice experience truly unique.
The Broad Reach Hospice Peaceful Hearts Program offers a unique approach to hospice care which draws its attention to honoring the patient’s life while combining a variety of comforting interventions such as Reiki, aromatherapy, and music therapy. These therapies are designed to enhance well-being and meet the individual needs of the patient and families.
Volunteer! Hospice volunteers enhance the patient and family experience in a variety of ways, ranging from providing a compassionate presence, lending a listening ear, reading, listening to music, and writing with patients. Broad Reach Hospice has volunteer opportunities in various locations from Centerville to Eastham.
