US News and Boston Globe Recognize Broad Reach Healthcare/Liberty Commons Successes
North Chatham, MA- November 22, 2016 – Broad Reach Healthcare/Liberty Commons received simultaneous recognition as an exemplary workplace and for service excellence to its patients, residents and families. This week, the organization was notified by U.S. News & World Report that it ranked among the best nursing homes in Massachusetts, as well as learning that its employees voted it to the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work in Massachusetts. It marks the ninth consecutive year that the workplace award has been achieved..
U.S. News identifies its Best Nursing Homes based on data collected by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the purpose of providing credible information to consumers. U.S. News evaluated over 16,000 nursing home facilities across the country, with Liberty Commons one of only two facilities on Cape Cod to have received this designation. Fewer than 15% of the nation’s nursing homes made the list.
Top Places to Work distinguishes the most admired workplaces in the state voted on by the people who know them the best—their employees. The survey measures employee opinions about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement. The employers are placed into one of four groups: small, with 50 to 99 employees; medium, with 100 to 249 workers; large, with 250 to 999; and largest, with 1,000 or more.
Broad Reach Healthcare was ranked 11th in the large category.
“In today’s tight job market, competition for the best workers is intense,” said Larry Edelman, the Globe’s business editor. “Our winning companies know that creating a motivating and supportive environment is key to finding and keeping talent.”
Broad Reach CEO William Bogdanovich echoed this sentiment, noting that, “Healthcare jobs, in particular, are especially difficult to fill, with shortages of frontline and professional candidates more significant than ever before. It makes retention all the more important to ensure future success, and we are most fortunate to have so many staff members who have been with us for so many of our thirty years serving Cape Cod.”
The rankings in the Top Places to Work are based on confidential survey information collected by Workplace Dynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, from nearly 70,500 individuals at 366 Massachusetts organizations. The winners share a few key traits, including offering progressive benefits, giving their employees a voice, and encouraging them to have some fun while they’re at it.
Bogdanovich further notes, “Making a satisfied workforce a priority serves the goal of achieving and ensuring consistent quality of care to those in the organization’s care. Staff members can better-aid those facing challenging healthcare situations when they come at it from an organizational foundation that respects their needs. Better care comes from better staff, and better staff comes from a better workplace.”
